CloudFlex

CloudFlex provides a way for you to harness the power, flexibility and cost effectiveness of cloud computing with minimal changes to your existing application and infrastructure investment.

It allows you to maintain a smaller permanent infrastructure to cope with the day to day operation of your website, but also have the ability to scale into your own secure cloud environment during periods of heavy traffic by automatically running additional web, application or database instances into the cloud.

This allows you to make significant cost savings on infrastructure investment that would otherwise sit idle for the majority of the time. Using cloud computing infrastructure, additional capacity can be quickly added or removed as demand for the service changes, with costs only incurred for the capacity that is actually used.

How it Works

1.  Our CloudFlex service will be used to monitor the load and performance of your web site using a number of different methods and metrics, customised to your individual requirements. This may be monitoring via the top level of your infrastructure or directly to specific application servers.

2.  Alternatively, your application can send performance and load data to the CloudFlex service.

3.  Based on a set of pre-defined thresholds, CloudFlex will create or remove cloud hosted servers as and when required, in order to ensure that your web site can effectively service the current load levels. Cloud based servers will run instances of your application and become a secure extension of your existing infrastructure.

4.  A proportion of the web sites traffic is now directed to and serviced by the Cloud hosted servers.

Key Benefits

  • Maintain website performance under even the most extreme loads allowing you to maximise transaction throughput and response times whilst maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Harness the power, flexibility and cost effectiveness of cloud computing without significant investment in migrating your existing application stack.
  • Pay only for the additional cloud capacity you actually use. If your website is quiet, you don’t pay.
  • Scale out at any layer in your application, subject to application architecture constraints.
